How to Use Your Routine
Apply products from thinnest to thickest texture. Each layer should be mostly absorbed before the next is applied. In tropical climates, wait 30-60 seconds between steps. In cold climates, apply moisturiser while skin is still slightly damp to lock in hydration.
How Long Before I See Results?
Hydration changes are visible within days. Texture improvement takes 2-4 weeks with consistent exfoliation. Brightening from vitamin C or niacinamide takes 4-8 weeks. Retinol anti-ageing results require 3-6 months of consistent use. Give any new routine at least 8 weeks before judging whether it works.
How the Routine Is Built
The routine builder matches your skin type and goals to a step-by-step AM and PM sequence. Morning routines focus on protection: cleansing, treatment, moisturising, and sunscreen as the final step. Evening routines focus on repair: cleansing away SPF and pollution, applying actives that work best overnight (such as retinol and AHAs), and sealing in moisture.
The Layering Principle
Skincare is applied thinnest to thickest. Lighter, water-based products absorb first and create the base for heavier products. Applying a thick moisturiser before a serum blocks the serum from reaching the skin effectively. The routine builder follows this principle in its step order.
Active Ingredients and Timing
Some actives are daytime-friendly (vitamin C, niacinamide, SPF), while others are better suited to evenings (retinol, strong AHAs, BHAs). Retinol increases photosensitivity, which is why most guidance recommends using it at night followed by SPF in the morning. The routine builder flags timing where it matters.
Starting Simple
If you are new to skincare, a three-step routine of cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen is a strong foundation before adding actives. Adding too many new products at once makes it hard to know what is working or causing a reaction. The 30-Day Challenge is a good companion if you want a structured way to build up gradually.
